With his stellar start to the NASCAR racing season, Kyle Busch is now the favorite to win the Sprint Cup Series Championship.
Busch, who has been alternating with Jeff Burton for the lead atop the standings since the Daytona 500 in February, is now +175 to win the 2008 Sprint Cup Championship at betED.com.
Burton, who’s in second and 80 points behind Busch, is at +250. Right behind Burton is Dale Earnhardt Jr. (+275).
Eight different drivers have posted victories in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2008, led by Busch (Atlanta, Talladega and Darlington) and Carl Edwards (California, Las Vegas and Texas).
Edwards’ back-to-back wins at California and Las Vegas marked the second time in his career he has posted consecutive wins.
Ryan Newman won Daytona, Burton at Bristol, Denny Hamlin at Martinsville, Jimmie Johnson at Phoenix, Clint Bowyer at Richmond and Kasey Kahne won at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
If those drivers make the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, each has earned 10 points per win toward their Chase “seeding.” Ties in number of wins are broken by the NASCAR rule book (number of seconds, thirds, etc.).
