Sprint Cup leader Kyle Busch is the favorite heading into this weekend’s Lenox Industrials Tool 301 NASCAR race at the New Hampshire International Speedway.
But Busch, who’s coming off a win at Sonoma last Sunday, will once again be competing in multiple races this week, which has cost him Top 10 finishes already this racing season.
Busch, who won the 2006 event, is scheduled to race in the Nationwide Series race at New Hampshire on Saturday before the Sprint Cup event on Sunday.
Three weeks ago, Busch struggled when he tried to race in three events at three venues, ending up 43rd at Pocono. Two weeks ago, he split his time between two races, both at Michigan, and finished 13th.
Nevertheless, Busch is a 5-1 favorite at Bodog. Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson are all 7-1, while Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are 8-1
Hamlin won last year's race. Hamlin has raced the 1.058-mile oval at NHIS just four times, but has recorded three top-10s and has the best average finish of any current starter (6.50).
In the 2007 race, he used a two-tire stop to take the lead with 37 laps remaining and then fought off both Martin Truex Jr. and Jeff Gordon for the win.
The Lenox Industrials Tool 301 starts at 12:30 pm ET Sunday on TNT.
